A strong storm system passed through the Finger Lakes region, Tuesday, March 31, bringing torrential downpours, high winds and quarter-sized hail. There was also a tornado warning delivered to cell phone users in the Reading area north of Watkins Glen in the early evening; however, it remained only a strong thunderstorm.
Extensive damage was reported on many local roads, including State Route 230 (pictured above), and crews have been working to repair damaged culverts and washouts in the county. This Wednesday to Friday a portion of State Route 230 will be closed to traffic from Crystal Springs Road to Andrews Hill Road to make repairs.
The continued rainy weather has also pushed local lake levels to high-water marks and law enforcement have warned of debris and other navigation hazards in the water.
