SPORTS RECAP: Week of 1-20-21

Waverly bowling tops Watkins Glen
The Watkins Glen bowling teams opened the season last week with two games. On Thursday they faced Waverly while on Tuesday they faced Odessa-Montour. The boys and girls both lost to Waverly.
Matt Irwin led the boys with a 550 for Watkins. He was followed by Robert Bannon with a 536 and Mykal Cody with a 526. Caleb Smith recorded a 503 and Michael Cook a 388.
For the girls, Ava Cowan had a team-high 392. Alyiah Clink-Bently had a 373, Aubrey Kellogg a 355 and Maisie Robertson a 278.
Against Odessa, the boys won 3-1 while the girls lost 4-0.
For Watkins Glen, Bannon had the match-high 542. Cody recorded a 481, Smith a 448, Irwin a 443 and Cook a 326.
In the girls match, Kellogg had a 395. Cowan followed with a 391 and Clink-Bently with a 388. Robertson rolled a 323.
For Odessa-Montour, the winning girls team was led by Jana Arias with a 449. Following were: Sarah Barr (443), Hannah Barr (417), Cortney Davis (366) and Taryn Hoyt (272).
Dominic Elliott had a 493 for the boys. The rest of the team included: Austin Hoyt (470), Wes Wade (414), Zach Rounds (374) and Chris Sewald (320).

Penn Yan bowlers beat Bloomfield
PENN YAN-The Penn Yan bowling teams defeated Bloomfield, Tuesday, Jan. 5.
The boys won 5-0. Ben Broome led with a 602. Trenton Samatulski had a 579 followed by Dutcher Samatulski with a 557. Cameron Bassage recorded a 555 and Jon Mashewske had a 449.
The girls also won 5-0. Anella Tillman had a 640 for the Lady Mustangs. Andy Kniffin followed with a 552. Isabel Campbell had a 421, Zoie Hotaling a 395 and Dayton Gulick a 338.
