SPORTS RECAP: Week of 11-25-20

Penn Yan Cross Country
Penn Yan crowned two sectional champions at the Section V cross country championships, Saturday, Nov. 21. The Mustangs competed in Class C at Oakfield-Alabama.
James Tette paced the boys race with a 16:58. Aven Foster finished 34th in 19:38. Anthony Wheeler was 38th (19:56) and Zachary Smith took 51st (20:17). Anthony Condella finished 92nd in 22:10.
For the girls, Joddie Decker was first in 20:33, defeating second place by 17 seconds. Gracie Murphy was 18th with a 22:12, while Jaina Doyle took 20th in 22:33. Adriana Rodriguez was 62nd (25:20) and Lexi Smith was 81st (27:44).

Penn Yan Girls Tennis
The Penn Yan varsity tennis team continued their post-season success in the individual sectional competition, Monday, Nov. 16.
Twins Molly and Claire Pullen won the doubles final, to become four-time champions in Section V. Abigail Garvey finished second in the singles competition.
The Pullens received a bye in round one and defeated Waterloo's Giavanna White Principio and Brynn Rogers 10-2 in the semifinal. They then beat Pal-Mac's Heather Weaver and Kaleen Anderson 10-2 for the title.
Garvey defeated Sarah Hellmann from Sodus in the first round 10-1 and beat Greece Odyssey's Ariyana Cotto 10-0 in the semifinals. She then fell to Nina Sorin from Aquinas in the sectional final, 10-2.

Penn Yan Boys Soccer
The Penn Yan boys soccer team lost in the sectional semifinal game to Bishop Kearney, Tuesday, Nov. 17. The final score was 2-0. Penn Yan had eight shots, four corner kicks and six saves in the game.
Kearney went on to be defeated by Haverling in the sectional final 3-0, last Thursday.

Dundee Cross Country
Dundee's runners competed at the Section V cross country championships, Saturday, Nov. 21. In Class D2 at Oakfield-Alabama high school, Camden Buchanan was 35th in 20:43. Alexander Leonard took 37th with a 20:54. Devon Grandall was 47th in 23:07.

Hammondsport Cross Country
The Hammondsport varsity cross country team competed at Oakfield-Alabama for the sectional championships, Saturday, Nov. 21.
Liam Kressly was ninth in 18:20. Eli Hill took 17th with a 19:22 and Blake Wright was 26th in 20:16. Andrew Morrison was 48th (23:19) and Chris Hill 56th (29:15). .
